Connection at Home

Companionship centered on personal connection

WAF Senior Services provides non-medical companion care through meaningful social interaction and emotional support. This service is for families seeking a caring presence for an older adult at home.

Before care begins, WAF talks with the family, assesses care needs, and considers the senior’s personality and the family’s preferences when looking for a caregiver match.

A Personal Fit

What WAF considers before matching a companion

Because companionship depends on trust and comfort, the match considers more than a general request for care.

Care needs

The care-needs assessment helps WAF understand the support the senior and family are seeking.

Personality

WAF considers personality when looking for a caregiver who may be a suitable companion.

Family preferences

The family’s preferences are part of the matching decision from the beginning.

Getting Started

How companion care begins

WAF uses a four-step process to understand the family’s needs and look for a suitable companion match.

  1. 1

    Consultation

The family contacts WAF to talk about the kind of companionship support they are seeking.

  2. 2

    Care-needs assessment

WAF learns about the senior’s needs and the family’s preferences before moving forward.

  3. 3

    Caregiver matching

WAF considers care needs, personality, and family preferences when matching a caregiver.

  4. 4

    Start of care

Care begins when the schedule and a suitable caregiver are available.

Timing is individual. Scheduling and the start of care depend on the person’s needs and caregiver availability. WAF does not promise a fixed start time or guaranteed availability.

Prepared and Supported

What families can know about the caregiver process

WAF background-checks caregivers. They receive orientation, care-plan instructions, office check-ins, competency checks, and required state training.

With the client’s permission, WAF may conduct an occasional in-home check-in to make sure care is running well.

If a companionship match is not working, the family may request a different caregiver. WAF will work on another match based on caregiver availability.

WAF Senior Services is IDPH Licensed and provides non-medical in-home senior care. Companion care is not skilled nursing or medical treatment.
