Support for Everyday Routines

Practical help shaped around the person

WAF Senior Services provides non-medical assistance with everyday activities to help seniors maintain independence at home. Because each person's routines are different, the care-needs assessment is where a family explains what is becoming difficult and asks whether WAF's support fits.

Support may also include timely medication reminders that help a person follow an existing schedule. These are reminders only, with a clear boundary between non-medical support and medication management.

Understanding the Services

Two kinds of everyday support

WAF combines practical daily assistance with clear, non-medical reminders.

Daily Living Support

Non-medical assistance with everyday activities is intended to help seniors maintain independence at home.

Medication Reminders

Timely prompts help a person follow an existing medication schedule. WAF caregivers provide reminders only.

What to discuss during the consultation

Tell WAF which everyday activities are becoming difficult, the existing medication schedule and reminder times, the person's care needs, personality preferences, and scheduling needs.

WAF can use the consultation and assessment to determine whether its confirmed non-medical support fits. The exact daily activities and reminder arrangements should be confirmed directly with WAF rather than assumed from a general list.

Getting Started

How daily living support begins

WAF uses a four-step process to understand the person's needs and look for a suitable caregiver match.

  1. 1

    Consultation

The family contacts WAF to describe the daily support and medication reminders they are seeking.

  2. 2

    Care-needs assessment

WAF learns about the person's needs, everyday routines, existing medication schedule, and family preferences.

  3. 3

    Caregiver matching

WAF considers care needs, personality, and family preferences when matching a caregiver.

  4. 4

    Start of care

Care begins when the schedule and a suitable caregiver are available.

Timing is individual. Scheduling and the start of care depend on the person's needs and caregiver availability. WAF does not promise a fixed visit length, lead time, immediate start, or guaranteed availability.

Prepared and Supported

What families can know about the caregiver process

WAF background-checks caregivers and matches them based on care needs, personality, and family preferences. Caregivers receive orientation, care-plan instructions, office check-ins, competency checks, and required state training.

With the client's permission, WAF may conduct an occasional in-home check-in to make sure care is running well.

If a caregiver match is not working, the family may request a different caregiver. WAF will work on another match based on caregiver availability.

WAF Senior Services is IDPH Licensed and provides non-medical in-home senior care. This is not skilled nursing, medication management, or medical treatment.
